La Graciosa: Island Cruise with Lunch and Water Activities

- Duration: 6 hours
Diverse with flora and fauna on an unparalleled, volcanic landscape, Lanzarote offers a
plethora of sightseeing to visitors who are looking for the perfect getaway. Hike Fire Mountains, relax on sun-drenched beaches and simply enjoy tranquil island life.
Located on the southern coast, the former fishing village of Playa Blanca bustles with life
around its port. It's also near the pristine sands and waters of Papagayo Beaches.
A volcanic eruption formed a lava tube five miles long here 5,000 years ago. A 45-minute
tour leads visitors down two chasms, the Cueva de los Verdes, nearly one mile in length.
Upon reaching the Islote de Hilario lookout point amid the ""Fire Mountains,"" a magma
chamber 2.5 miles below the surface heats up pebbles a few inches underfoot to 212°F.
The five-island chain off the coast comprises a natural park, with the island of La Graciosa
boasting Europe's largest marine reserve. It's also the only one that's inhabited.
The 849-foot peak is all that's left of this once volcanic island of the archipelago.
Uninhabited and a sanctuary for marine birds, the private island sold for 9€ million in 2007.
150 different species live in the park, which also helps to save endangered animals. The
parrot show takes place at 12:00PM, followed by the penguin and otter feeding times.
A 50-foot sculpture of old water tanks is the work of local artist César Manrique. The site
provides a glimpse into the island's past, with the farm house showcasing daily life.
To relax and enjoy a nice vacation, consider a minimum of seven nights. If you have or want
extra time to explore many points around the island, then allow yourself 10 - 14 days in total.
The best way to see the island is to have a rental car. As for public transportation, there are
buses operating within the towns themselves and those that link the main cities (i.e. Arrecife
to Playa Blanca is 55 minutes away).
If you plan to take a day-trip from Playa Blanca to the town of Corralejo on Fuerteventura,
expect to pay no more than 20€ round-trip. You can book directly with companies at the port,
and the journey takes 35 minutes.
You'll find accommodations concentrated in the main coastal cities of Playa Blanca, Puerto del Carmen, Costa Teguise and in the capital city of Arrecife. However, there are also places scattered in small towns around the interior of the island.

This trip is great value. Its quite a long day with a trip around the National Park then onto the wine region area. This has a little stop at the shop. You then go onto lunch which is a buffet, not included in the trip price but costs €10 and is very reasonable. The last part is the caves.... really great day. The caves are a teeny trek and there's a bit of 'ducking' but highly recommed to see a whistle-stop of Lanzarote. The guides are chirpy, informative and helpful. We really enjoyed the whole trip.
Everything was great. First and foremost, the dives (note: we did tweak the original plan a bit as I am certified). They were both shore dives but we saw lots of colorful fish, octopuses, sea horses, large fish, and more. Then Connor the guide. Professional, helpful, kind. Finally, the organization was top notch, and all the equipment (which was high quality) was waiting for me when I arrived. Highly recommended.
It was an amazing tour. The driver was excellent. He provided lots information on various places, their history and even some stories. It was indeed a great tour.
The tour was amazing. Jose is very knowledgable and really passionate about Valcanos and Lanzarote. Highly recommended!
Lovely guide Raquel, perfect pickup, very well thought tour. U get to inside a volcano! The Volcano park is surreal.
