Full description
Take a 4-hour trek in Volcano National Park and discover the reasons for the dramatic visual landscapes of Lanzarote, the types of eruptions and volcanoes, and the lava flows. During the 18th century one of the most important volcanic eruptions in the history of mankind took place on the island. Between 1730 and 1736 the island suffered eruptions that devastated a large part of its southern area. These eruptions, coupled with the evolutionary process of the land, have left one of the most spectacular volcanic landscapes on the planet and a unique outdoor geological museum. On this fascinating journey through the savage terrain of Lanzarote, you’ll have the opportunity to observe the rebirth of life in this extreme ecosystem as well.

If you want an active hike of the beautiful volcanoes of Lanzarote this is the way to go! This tour was simply amazing and exceeded my expectations. On this tour we got to hike up volcanoes, get a great view of the volcanoes of Lanzarote from the top of a volcano and go inside the only volcano of Lanzarote accessible by tourists! Jose was basically an amateur volcanologist that gave us so much information about the volcanoes of the island. He also informed us that we could not walk in Timanfaya National Park which made me really happy I didn’t book one of those tours! Jose also gave us great advice on where to go next on the island and was an amazing guide!

This was the one trip I wanted to do while in Lanzarote and I was not disappointed. Booked on line, and was sent a confirmation e mail and informed I would be contacted the day before with the pick up time. Following a phone call, the next day we were collected from our hotel and driven to the lava fields. Our guide was Raquel who was extremely informative, giving details of the history, geology and biology of the area we were walking. There were 7 on our trip so there was plenty of opportunity to ask questions, all of which were answered in great detail. Raquel is a very warm person who immediately created a very relaxed atmosphere, and has a huge passion for her surroundings and their future conservation. The walk was not strenuous and because of frequent stops for explanations and demonstrations the time and distance passed far too quickly. I would recommend this tour to anyone, it is a fantastic opportunity to see and learn about the island away from the usual tourist areas.

The tour guide was lovely, she made stops inbetween to show us the volcanoes etc. and to explain it all properly. The hike wasn't very intense either so also suitable for not that fit people! We learnt and saw a lot and were both really happy to have joined the group! It was just 4 people too which made it even easier to follow.
