Full description

Rio Lagartos is a small fishing village in a Nature Reserve; one of the natural treasures of the Yucatan Peninsula.

Here we can enjoy a boat tour through its water canals surrounded by mangroves, where you can observe a variety of species of birds such as pink flamingos, herons, eagles, seagulls, pelicans, and cormorants. During the tour, we pass under the bridge of Las Coloradas to get to the salt deposits where we see different bodies of water involved in this process, some of which an eye-catching pink. Following, we will rejoice in the Mayan Bath, covering the body in nutrient-rich clay. Next, we’ll be heading to an unspoiled beach to remove the clay in the crystal water, where we will enjoy ourselves with the tasty local fish-and-shellfish-based food. Before getting on the bus, we will visit a spring of water surrounded by mangroves towering up to 25 meters and authentic local crocodiles. On our way back, our last stop will be on one of the greatest cenotes of the zone.

Located within a cattle ranch, as is customary in the Ruta del Flamingo, we will swim and relax in this one-of-a-kind place: the cherry on top of the cake.

One of the best tours of my vacation! Our tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly. He even took my photos as I was traveling alone. The experience felt more personal because I wasn’t cramped in a bus like other tours. The drive was respectful and kind- he was efficient that we got there before the big groups. The food was also great- they have some options so as pescatarian I was very happy. Thanks for such an amazing day!

It was an amazing trip. Although the bus trip was really long (more than 3 hours per way), the trip was superexcellent. You can see crocodiles really close, a lot of flamingos, the mud bath was fresh and the swim at the lonely beach very cool. The meal, you could choose between chicken, fish and vegetarian looks really nice (I had the fish ceviche and it was awesome). Our guide, Carlos, did a really good job, telling us about the pink lagoon, the cenote, the culture. Due to some snacks and water offered by the team, it felt good to be part of the group.
