1. From León: Hike and Volcano Boarding on Cerro Negro

On this 5-hour tour from León you experience the adventure of volcano boarding. You take a 45-minute drive from León City to Cerro Negro. From the main entrance of the volcano you walk for approximately 2 hours to the top. It is rocky and there is no shade, but once you are at the top you have the best views over the Volcano Chain of León. You can walk around the crater and can see how active this volcano actually is. Cerro Negro is the youngest volcano of Central America but it is also one of the most active. Once at the top you can enjoy volcano boarding your way down the ash side. What people are saying about León, Nicaragua

I do strongly recommend this tour. Our guide, Frank, was really nice and fun and obviously very experienced with volcano hikes. He told us many interesting facts what made the trip from Leon to the vulcan enjoyable. The hike is definitely among the easier ones, just don't forget to bring water as it gets really hot especially at the top (been there at the end of August). The ride down is really fun and surprisingly not even that fast as one would expect, so no need to worry about that. Just be prepared to have the ash everywhere and a proper shower is needed to get it all out of your hair. At the end we were offered some fruits, which was a really nice bonus :)

Lester was our guide, he was very knowledgeable about the geography of the region as well as volcano boarding. Nothing in the world can prepare you for what you are about to do. Climbing up the volcano was difficult with the wind blowing at you and the volcanic rock slightly shifting beneath your feet.

Russell was a fantastic guide! Took lots of photos told lots of stories. 100% recommend going with this company over the others. A great experience.
