Full description
See bunkers from the Atlantic Wall, and visit launching sites of V1 and V2 rockets on this guided excursion from Lille. Start the activity with pickup at your hotel or Lille train station at 9:00 AM, and speed north on a 1.5-hour drive towards the French coast. Once there, stand on an original bunker at Cap Griz Nez with a stunning view on the channel, and see the English coast if weather permits. Visit an original Todt bunker built to house a massive gun, which now houses an informative museum. Then enjoy a stop for lunch in one of the small towns on the coast. Next, drive towards Eperlecques to see the largest bunker built by Nazis in Northern France, originally designed to house a V2 assembly plant and to produce liquid oxygen. The bunker was severely damaged by American bombers, but not destroyed. End your day at the Bois des Huit Rues, where a V1 launching base was built, with many building remains remaining in the woods. Following this visit, hop back in the vehicle to drive back to Lille, with arrival at around 6:30 PM.
