Fatima and Moeda Caves from Lisbon

3. Fatima and Moeda Caves from Lisbon

Fatima is a town and Parish located 142 km (88 miles) North of Lisbon. Fatima is one of the most important catholic shrines in the world dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Fatima’s Sanctuary welcomes millions of pilgrims and tourists from all over the world. Fatima’s fame is due to the Apparitions of Our Lady of the Rosary that appeared to three shepherd children; Lucia dos Santos and her two younger cousins, Francisco and Jacinta. Between May and October of 1917, the three children witnessed several apparitions. The last one, on October 13th, was confirmed by a miracle witnessed by 60,000 people known in the catholic world as “the day the sun danced”. After arrival in Fatima, and before the sanctuary visitation, take 30 min tour of the Fátima 4D Museum to know all the historical details of Fatima history. An impressive multimedia guided tour with 3D and 4D animations.  Then continue to the sanctuary. The visit will allow time to do your pilgrimage in the sanctuary, after attending the celebration of the Mass to capture its ambiance and live the experience. We will see the Little Chapel of the Apparitions, the Basilica, the site of Francesco, Lucia and Jacinta's graves. You then proceed to Via sacra. Take a Pedestrian walk through the Via Sacra is a fantastic tour in a good weather conditions, allowing you to feel all the place spirituality. Then visit the Moeda caves. The caves are in a good location very close to the city. The cave is good-sized and can be explored over a few hours. It is best to explore with the help of the guides who are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Continue to Pia do Urso Sensorial Park. A pia do urso (the sink of the bear) is a space constructed as a sensorial thematic park (adapted for blind), followed by a pedestrian circuit.

What people are saying about Lisbon District

Incredible tour ! Don't hesitate to take the private tour (the relative price difference is well worth it). Very passionate and personalized tour in perfect English. This one stands head and shoulders above the other European stadiums we have already visited. Items linked to our home club were specially retrieved from their archives to show us and have them photographed. Also received highly personalized (duplicate) items. We are not real museum visitors, but this one was unforgettable and not just football related. My wife is not a football fan but even got goosebumps during the simulation in the museum. The entire visit lasted for 3h45 min and there was never a dull moment (museum + stadium). During the private and personalized tour through everything you get all the time you wish to take pictures and the guide will take pictures of you with a smile with your own camera or phone. Highly recommended !!!

Edgar was an excellent guide as he was very knowledgeable and you could feel his passion and his love for Benfica. Our boys, ages 10 and 12, loved the tour as well. They actually liked the museum tour more than the stadium tour.

Fantastic experience my guide Djogo was perfect welcoming courteous and provided me with a lot of information and anecdotes, The visit to the stadium was then complete with a great visit
