Full description
On this full-day tour you’ll discover Sintra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Admire the villa that’s surrounded by an amazing natural park, a castle, beautiful palaces and chalets. Take a walk along the medieval streets of Sintra an drive through the national park and see the rare fauna, the unique trees, the Moorish castle, Monserrate Palace and the chalets. Visit Pena Palace, one of the most impressive expressions of 19th-century Romanticism in architecture in the world and one of Portugal’s seven wonders. Say goodbye to Sintra with an optional visit to mystical Quinta da Regaleira, a palace surrounded by luxuriant gardens, lakes, caves and enigmatic constructions that hide obscure alchemist meanings, evoked by Freesmasons, Knights Templar and Rosicrucians. Continue on to the westernmost point of continental Europe at Roca Cape. Travel along the coast and embrace the Atlantic, and stop in Cascais and Estoril, once retreats for the royal family and the European aristocracy.

A day of wind, rain and fog, but our guide, Diogo, provided our multi cultural group with plenty of information about Sintra and the castles/palaces. This, combined with his humorous additions, made a gray day much brighter. This day long journey from Lisbon to Sintra and beyond was interesting, informative and a lot of fun. Many thanks to Sofia and Diogo for a most enjoyable day.

The tour was enjoyable, our guide Diogo was very entertaining. Recommend taking a jacket with you as Sintra is high up and is quite cold. It can also be foggy which was our case. For Pena Palace, you will have an option between gardens only or visiting the rooms (both at extra cost not included). There is also the option of taking a small bus up the hill to Pena Palace (at extra cost) or walk it uphill, it is not a long walk. You'll also need to pay entrance to Quinta da Regaleira not included also. Roca Cape and Cascais were nice to visit Overall for a whole day tour, it was worth and the explanation of a guide makes it more interesting. Sintra has many more palaces which are not included in this tour, obviously cannot do everything in 1 day. Monserrate palace for example seems nice.

Loved this tour! I would highly recommend booking this to see Sintra and the coast - it's worth the extra euro to have a guide and a driver. Our tour guide, Andre Feldman, was equal parts hilarious and informative, and our 4 fellow tourists in the group were friendly and made the experience all the better. My partner and I never felt rushed but managed to see everything we planned and hoped to. We had a great time and are looking forward to booking more tours through with Andre again (Douro + more coast) when we return to Portugal in the future!
