Explore the history of Portugal on a tour of Évora and the Megaliths of the Cromeleque dos Almendres. Following pickup from your hotel in Lisbon, make your way to Évora, the historic capital of the Alentejo.

Start the day with a tour of the Almendres Cromlech. Older than Stonehenge, this megalithic complex reveals some of the secrets of ancient civilizations and their knowledge of astronomy. Admire the circle of stones, mysteriously aligned with the sun and stars.

Next, explore the UNESCO-classified city center of Évora. See remnants from Roman through Renaissance times. Visit the Temple of Diana and learn how cork is extracted from Cork Oak Trees. Visit the medieval Évora Cathedral and climb to the roof to admire the golden plains surrounding the city. This tour was interesting to learn how the cork trees are grown and the cork is collected as well as to see the ancient stone structures. The guide provided plenty of interesting facts during the tour. City of Evora is amazing mix of Roman and gothic architecture that is well preserved and not touched by earthquake. I would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to explore the Portugal inland area.

We did this trip and our guide was Nuno. He was very passionate about Portugal and all it has to offer. He was engaging and knowledgeable with the content. The bone church was amazing and the Roman ruins were really cool to see. We were not rushed and it was a nice relaxing day. We had a great experience Would recommend this trip to others!

Overall a wonderful experience. Our guide was very friendly and kind (his driving was a little rough at times-abrupt stops stopping)! Loved the Megaliths and spending time in the town. We also viewed some amazing cathedrals as well (beautiful). The drive from Lisbon was a little far but the bus was very comfortable. We took our time and went at a great pace throughout the trip.
