Your guide will pick you up at your hotel, and together you’ll make your way into central Lucerne. Enjoy fantastic panoramic views of the city center across the Reuss river, and admire the surrounding mountains. Continue towards the wooden Chapel Bridge, a 200-meter long pedestrian crossing, and learn the history of this beautifully painted bridge.   Discover the car-free inner city circle and the old town, filled with 16th-century buildings. Walk across the Spreuer Bridge and take a coffee break along the Reuss river. After the break, continue along the city wall, built for defensive reasons in the 14th century. End your city tour by the Lion Monument, a rock relief commemorating the massacres of Swiss Guards during the French Revolution.   Your tour guide will then lead you to the boat station, where you’ll board a panoramic yacht and sail out on to Lake Lucerne. Listen to the audio headset commentary during the cruise, or ask your guide about the mountains, houses, and other sights along the shore. After the 1-hour boat tour, you’ll return to Lucerne, where your guide will drop you off back at your hotel.

The 35-minute journey takes you from 1,440 ft (438m) above sea level to the top of Mount Rigi at an altitude of 5,900 ft (1798m). Start the day off with a train ride from the Lucerne train station to Goldau, where you will transfer to the Mt. Rigi cog wheel train, and then to the aerial tram, to reach the starting point of your hike at the 1,661-meter high Rigi Scheidegg. The panoramic views and the symphony of cow bells in the summer months provide the perfect ambiance, and served as the inspiration from Mark Twain's 1880 book, “A Tramp Abroad." Mid way through the hike, stop for lunch at a typical Alpine restaurant, or bring your own to enjoy at a nearby meadow. After lunch, continue hiking through undulating meadows to reach the modern facilities of the newly opened Mineralbad & Spa at Rigi Kaltbad, designed by internationally renowned architect, Mario Botta. Take the cogwheel train up to the top of Mount Rigi to enjoy the spectacular panoramic views over the lakes and mountains, and then descend by foot back to the Rigi Kaltbad.
