The guide did an excellent job presenting some of the major pieces of art, then I stayed in the museum the rest of the day to visit by myself. For the rest of the day I had bought the official guide book (500 pages), at times listened to the audio guide (on my own smartphone, through the Prado's website, because they don't have the usual audioguides due to COVID), and overheard some explanations from other guides while revisiting the work we saw with this guide: none of that was as good as our own tour. I'd recommend this tour both for people who are very much into art and for people who only like to spend a little bit of time in the museums: you see the major pieces in an captivating way, and you can always stay longer if you want. Note that the meeting place is not at the statue but up the stairs, by the street. A tip: while they provide throwaway ear pods, I usually bring my own, which I find more comfortable and of better quality. The radios have a regular audio jack.

Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable as she took a group of 15+ through the Prado. She presented the information in an organized and clear manner. My only complaint is that the tour was conducted in English and Spanish, with the English speakers being quite in the minority. About eighty percent of every explanation of a work was in Spanish followed by a brief summary in English that did not include nearly the detail that the Spanish speakers heard. My companions checked out completely. Our guide tried hard but the format is not ideal.I won’t do another bi-lingual tour.

Throughly enjoyable

We booked the tour fairly last minute, and weren’t sure what to expect. But within a few moments of meeting our guide, we knew we were in for a treat. She had a wonderful personality, and it was clear she had a passion for art - this was more than just a job for her. It was obvious she had carefully selected highlights that gave us a good understanding of the major artists within the museum, as well as the context and evolution of the art over time.
