Manaus: Half-Day City Tour

Located in the north of Brazil, Manaus is the capital of the Amazon. It is one of the most important places of departure to explore the Amazon Rainforest, the world’s richest and most-varied biological reservoir, and contains several million species of insects, plants, birds, and other forms of life. After pick-up from your hotel in Manaus, the tour will visit some important landmarks in the city, such as The Amazon Opera House (also known as The Amazon Theatre). Inaugurated in 1896, it is a historical landmark that currently accommodates the Amazonas Philharmonic and plays host to the annual Amazonas Opera Festival. The Indian Museum is the biggest museum of Brazilian indigenous history and houses more than 3,000 pieces made by Amazonian tribes. After your tour, you’ll be transferred back to your hotel in Manaus.

Afterwards, take a walk through the market premises knowing a little about the regional fruits and other delicacies in the region. During the walk you will have the opportunity to taste the Chestnut, a very tasty and popular fruit. At the end, you will have the opportunity to taste Guaraná, the drink made from the fruit of guaraná (a typical fruit of the region), which when mixed with other fruits such as Peanuts, forms a drink that besides being very tasty is also an energizing stimulant.

Manaus: Museu do Seringal Rubber Museum

The driver and tour guide FRANCISCO MAIA introduces to the several local attractions including the famous Amazonas Opera Theater, the church in front and the square sorrounding the area. Then, the Cathedral area featuring the pictouresque clock and later the Central Market, where Francisco tells local anecdotes, which really help in understanding the Manaus "milieu" in the historical centre. Crossing the giant bridge is an amazing experience and the conclussion in the Ponta Negra beach and residencial area makes this tour the mandatory foreword to deepening Manaus...

A very dynamic guide took us surprisingly in a private tour to Opera, to the fascinating market over the Big Bridge and to the beach of Manaus. We learned a lot about the city but also about the life of the people here. Our guide has also been to Switzerland and is a talented speaker. He also asserts himself for his guests when a restaurant is already busy and there is hardly any space. We think it's worth booking through GetYourGuide because the quality and price/performance ratio has always been right for us.

Manaus is in need of some TLC as buildings are generally in need of a power wash and a paint job, this is true of both private and public buildings. The most interesting thing to see was the beef and fish markets.

It was an excellent tour Joseph was very thorough and knowledgeable about the city. I would highly suggest taking this tour

The guide was very good, had good knowledge and always looked after us.
