We were taken to Essaouira by Abdel. We were a group of 19 on the bus which had an AC that didn't work very well. We made 3 stops in the morning on the 3 hour drive to Essaouira. On site, one-hour visit with a local guide, very interesting because it allows you to immerse yourself in the history of this port city. Then: free field for lunch, stroll. We ate fresh fish on a roof terrace, a treat. The return is at 4 p.m. (we left later because a young couple had not arrived..). I recommend this excursion even if the trip is long, We would have liked explanations of what we see along the way.

Booked as the cheapest way to get to Essaouria from Marrakech. As such we weren’t particularly interested in the tour itself, which we felt lasted too long. Essaouria is lovely though. Argan oil co-op were too pushy in sales - we explained that we’d actually just visited another co-op and had stocked up on loads of argan oil, but they still tried to pressure us into buying ‘just a small’ product. Was off-putting considering the generally great work the co-ops do. Have my doubts about the goats in trees and if they are genuinely up there or coerced in some way. They weren’t tied up though and didn’t seem distressed. Driver should have explained more about it though - we read up on this phenomenon so knew about it, but others may not have. Quite a bumpy journey with a driver less communicative than others we’ve had in the past
