Full description
Have you always dreamed of colorful markets, unfamiliar eastern spices, and preparing a simple but exquisite tagine with the freshest ingredients? Then you will be elated with this cooking course. You'll be picked up in lively Jemaa El Fna and driven to Riad by one of our employees. There, the lead chef will be waiting for you with the ingredients prepared. In the kitchen courtyard, you'll work under artful instruction, cooking an exquisite 4-course meal using traditional recipes and a small clay, coal-burning oven. While your tagine cooks over the fire, you'll prepare a selection of Moroccan salads that serve as the prelude to every Moroccan meal. At the end, dessert will be served. Enjoy a good Moroccan wine with your own authentic meal, and linger after your cooking adventure for mint tea and fresh pastries. Moroccan cuisine uses only regional, seasonal products and provides a wonderful balance of sweet and salty dishes; it makes use of original ingredients like rose water and pickled lemons. Your cooking course can be tailored to your wishes. For those who want to learn a little bit about shopping in Morocco, an optional visit to an authentic Moroccan bazaar is just the thing. The market visit will be followed by a tea ceremony and a snack.

When we got to the door we thought we were wrong, but then a great raid opens up. We were already expected and we could start right away. The additionally booked stroll through the city with a shopping tour turned out to be a sales event for argan oil and spices. This was completely pointless. And way overpriced compared to the cooking class.

The cooking class, which took place at the Riad El Cadi, was just awesome! A great "moderator", Samir, gave us participants a lot of information, the cook, Tarik, was very patient with his students, the result was simply stunning. However, the market tour was not what was suggested to the ticket bookers. They thought they would take you around the market before the cooking class and show you where the chef shops, but the day before the class we were told that the tour would be after the cooking class, which struck us as odd. Now we know why: the market tour turned out to be a shopping tour, during which a local guide took us through corners of the souks that are not so easy to get to, but he also repeatedly took us to friendly dealers who all wanted to sell something. Since the tour started at around 4:30 p.m. and was still going on at 7:30 p.m., we were a bit annoyed until it finally ended.
