Opened in Marseille in June 2013, the Mucem has now joined the ranks of the most visited museums in the world thanks to its program of exhibitions and cultural programs. Admire the stunning architecture of the building by Rudy Ricciotti, and stroll along the corridors of the museum to get stunning views of the old port and Mediterranean Sea. Explore exhibitions that combine anthropology, history, archaeology, art history and contemporary art to explain the Mediterranean world and its dialogue with Europe in amazing detail. Know before you go

  • Entry to the museum if free for those under 18 years old on presentation of valid ID
  • Entry to the museum is free on the 1st Sunday of every month and during European Heritage Days (the 3rd weekend of September every year)
  • Audio guide (if option selected) available in French, English, Spanish, Italian, and German for the 3 outdoor exhibitions
  • Audio guide (if option selected) available in French and English for the 2 indoor exhibitions
  • For best visiting conditions of the exhibitions, you should aim to arrive at the Mucem before 1:00 PM
  • The museum is closed every Tuesday

I wanted to visit one exhibition in particular: Pharaohs superstars: I better understand why this term because it is not confined to the exhibition of ancient objects (very rewarding, of course!) but it includes everything that different civilizations have been able to extrapolate from it from time immemorial and by several states! the exhibitions "Abd-El-Kader" (a great magnanimous warlord and considered the father of the Algerian nation) and "the great mezzé" (traditional culinary know-how and good for health since studied as far as the United States- United for their benefits) were also very interesting. the hardest part of all this is to sneak through the streets of Marseille between the works, the heavy traffic and the ubiquitous two-wheelers! but the exhibitions are worth the obstacle course...

It's an entry ticket - there didn't happen to be a line when we got there, but it was still convenient to have in advance. Museum was so-so. There didn't seem to be much of a timeline and they talked about all of Europe and not just Marseille and France. But overall, it was okay. If you like typical museums, you'll likely enjoy this one as well.

The reservation was easy The wire-cut ticket allows you to enter directly at the entrance of the exhibition The Jeff Koons exhibition, as it is conceived, particularly interested the two young teenagers who accompanied me; as for me (74 years old) I only knew a few creations (dog, heart ...); I discovered the pictorial works, the bust of the couple and the collections of the mucem in response to all these works
