Full description

Begin your tour by visiting the site of Escobar’s former home, where he hid his family and had enemies plant bombs to kill him. Learn about the transformation of this site into a memorial park for victims of Colombia's drug war. Next, head to “la cathedral”, a jail Escobar built for himself in an agreement with the government, from which he later escaped. Afterward, visit the soccer field Escobar built, known for its visionary design, where he gave speeches in an attempt to make a foray into Colombian politics. To cap things off, make your way to the cemetery, where Escobar is buried along with his family and other members of his gang, including Griselda Blanco.

By the end of the day, leave the tour with a better understanding of the negative impact that Escobar had on the country and the lives of the Colombian people.

Daniel was awesome, super knowledgeable and friendly. The pick up was super on time and he was always paying attention to everybody. He answered all of our questions tour and non-tour related. The driver was excellent too. The tour doesn’t require a lot of physical effort. If you suffer from dizziness we recommend taking a dramamine before going up to Pablo Escobar’s jail because it’s a very curvy uphill road. It rains everyday so the cemetery’s grass is always wet and in many points flooded so bring shoes that can get wet or at least not flipflops or nice, pretty shoes. And a raincoat. Thank you very much for the experience, we recommend it 100%.

I recently went on the Pablo Escobar tour in Medellín and found it to be an informative and interesting experience. Our guide, Daniel, was knowledgeable and passionate about the history of the city and the drug lord. He was also energetic and engaging, you could tell he enjoys his job. We visited a number of sites related to Escobar, including his private prison and gravesite, as well as the soccer field he built and the memorial for the victims of the cartel. The group size was small, with only 11 people, which made the tour feel more personal. One downside of the tour was the van we used to get around. It was quite tight and uncomfortable, especially on the winding roads. Overall, I would recommend the Pablo Escobar tour to those interested in learning more about the history of Medellín and the impact of the Escobar cartel. Just be prepared for a potentially bumpy ride in the van.
