Full description

Go on an insightful guided tour to Coyoacan and Xochimilco. Sail on a boat and explore the ancient canals of the Xochimilco lake before indulging in local food and Mexican music.

Start your trip with a brief visit to an artisan center in one of the most emblematic neighborhoods of the city, Peralvillo.

Learn all about the handicrafts of all regions of Mexico. Continue your tour in the southern part of the city, where you can visit the Frida Kahlo Museum, or if you prefer, head to the center of Coyoacan, for a 1-hour visit.

Next, move on to discover the beautiful scenery of Lake of Xochimilco. Make the most of the opportunity to take a ride on a boat named Trajinera, in the ancient canals of the lake.

In Xochimilco, see the chinampas (artificial islands), and find out what life was like 500 years ago in the great Tenochtitlan.

Take this chance to savor the typical food of the region, as well as enjoy the Mexican music mariachi. Finally, visit one of the most important universities in Latin America, UNAM.

Guide was informative the whole drive. I liked this tour but my partner didn't enjoy it as much. Joining the tour was stressful as pickup location didn't have anybody there & pickup time can be later. We thought we missed the bus so moved to the other group pickup location & same again, but luckily waited long enough & it came 20 minutes later. The 20 seat van was modern & comfortable but the back was hot because AC wasn't on, & when requested took a long time to cool, but not reaching the rear seats properly. I recommend sitting near the front. 1 hour boat was good amount of time with optional food (150p) & drinks (25-35p) & optional mariachi band (200p) with 30 minutes to explore area after. Cayoacan had 2 hours to self explore plenty of restaurants, bars & markets if not doing the Fredo Kahlo museum. The stadium & university didn't interest us, but a quick stop for others to take pics was fine. I still recommend this tour, just be aware of pickup delays, & AC best in the front.

It was a great and fun half-day trip, I'm really glad we ended up doing it. Our tour guide was a great host, and a real multitasker. He gave us so many great recommendations and information about all sights we visited, and about Mexico city. All our questions were welcome. Xochimilco is a must-to-see for all tourists! We didn't spend much time in Coyoacan - make sure to return here some day! Such a nice place to enjoy lunch and walk around the local markets. You won't have time for that during the trip though. However, make sure to try churros during your short stop there, it's the best we've ever tasted!

The canals are amazing as is the College of Mexico City. The rest of the tour we had done on our own two days before this visit. It was beautiful and historic, but my dad is fluent in German and English, but unfortunately not Soanish. Since the vast majority of were Spanish speakers he (and at times, myself) were a bit left out on the larger picture. I did enjoy the tour overall. Lots of great info!
