See the stunning Aeolian Archipelago on a day trip to the islands of Vulcano and Lipari from Milazzo. Take a boat to Lipari and go on a walk in the Old Town. Then, sail to the UNESCO-listed chain of volcanic islands. Enjoy a mud bath in Vulcano, swim in the Tyrrhenian Sea, or relax on the beach.

Discover the 2 beautiful Liparian Islands north of the coast of Sicily. Begin your tour in the morning at the Port of Milazzo and set out along the foothills of Capo Milazzo to Lipari. Explore the land with its wonderful old town and archaeological park. Walk down the little streets and wander into tiny shops. Admire the impressive needle- and cone-shaped rock formations of Faraglioni, Pope John Cliff, the Angels' Grotto, and the Mummy Cliff. Then return to your ship and continue on to the island of Vulcano. Relax here in the sulfuric mud spa or on the dreamlike black sand beach, or enjoy lunch in a local restaurant. The trip took us to two wonderful islands in the aeolian archipelago. Lipari is a very historical and scenic place to visit, the museum is a must see. Vulcano is a lovely resort area, but was under a lot of refurbishment at the time. And be warned, it is an active volcano, prepare your nose for some sulfuric fumes. The volcanic sand is warm and the sea is balmy and bubbly, if a bit slimy due to the algal growth. The crew took some time to explain rock formations and local history. Main complaint- the trip started at 1030, and we got to lipari at 1200, we had to leave by 1400 to arrive at vulcano at 1415, once again leaving just 2 hours later at 1615. The whole trip was just 7 hours and is branded as a day trip, if we had 1 more hour on each island, I think we would have felt more complete in our excursions, rather than rushing back to the boat.

The activity is a boat trip. You pay for a ride to 2 islands, the rest is free time. What you do on the islands is up to you. But it is OK, you have time to look around, shop, go to the beach. The way back is longer, the boat goes around the vulcanic island, you can see beautyful scenery.

A nice ride on two islands that are worth visiting at a more leisurely pace. I would certainly spend more time in Vulcano, not only on the beaches but with some excursions. I think Lipari has a lot to offer too. The only negative note of the day was, with rough seas, a risky maneuver made by the captain of the boat, in order to show the horse's cave. Turning in a narrow place, close to the rocks, and with the side towards the waves, is not the best. For the rest, the beauty of those places must be admired. The cuisine in small typical restaurants is also worth trying.
