Explore the natural wonder of the brilliantly blue lake Humantay amid the snow-dusted peaks with this tour from Cusco.

Meet your driver from the comfort of your accommodation in Cuzco between 4:30 and 5:00 AM and enjoy the scenic drive to Mollepata where tickets can be purchased. Have a hearty breakfast before continuing to Soraypampa, at 3,900 meters above sea level.

Walk on a rugged nature path to Lake Humantay, at 4,200 meters (13,779 feet) above sea level for wonderful views of the turquoise water at the base of the Humantay glacier. Immerse yourself in a landscape sacred to the Incas and take the opportunity to rent a horse for a ride to the lake. Explore the glacial waters of the Humantai Lagoon and snap some photos until around 1:00 PM when you will go backdown to Mollepata for a restorative lunch. Return to Cusco arriving at about 6:00 PM where you will be dropped off by the main square which has many delectable dinner options.

  • Lake Humantay is 4000 meters above sea level, so while the hike is moderate, the high altitude can make it more difficult to breathe. The hike is almost all uphill, the path is steep and a bit slippery in places, so waterproof hiking shoes are recommended.
