Bali: Penglipuran Village, Temples and More Full Day Tour

2. Bali: Penglipuran Village, Temples and More Full Day Tour

Not keen on the swarming crowds at Bali's main temples? Visit temples that are just as beautiful off the beaten track, meaning fewer tourists, more charm, and the tranquility you seek on this magical island.  Begin at the Kerta Gosa Pavilion in Klung Kung. The intact justice court building formerly used by the high king of Bali will give you some idea of the power and grandeur of the Balinese monarchs before the Dutch arrived. Goa Lawah Temple is up next. Also known as Bat Cave, its complex is built over a hilly outcrop home to thousands of bats and a giant snake king per local legend. Make a stop at Bukit Jambul, known for its panoramic views of the rice terraces. As you must be peckish by now, your guide will slow the pace down for a lunch overlooking Mt. Agung.  Continue your tour to Besakih Temple, Bali's thousand-year-old Mother Temple, perched 1,000 meters high on the southwestern slopes of Mount Agung. It is meant to be the island's largest holy site divided into three main complexes, each dedicated to the Hindu trinity. The last of the temples, Kehen Temple, is a multi-level temple on a hill home to a great Banyan Tree. An untouched gem, it requires a bit of a hike to get to the well-preserved natural sanctuary. Finally, the trip ends with a visit to Penglipuran Traditional Village, a traditional countryside community in the highlands.

We enjoyed a great day trip with Bonito. He is a super driver, understanding the traffic in Bali very well. We could reach our destinations really fast and safe. Bonito showed us the best of the best and organized every step of the trip in advance. Thank you very much for that. I can recommend this experience to anyone, who wants to see the highlights in Bali. Big big thanks to Bonito for making this day unforgatebke. We have our great pictures and memories.

Totally recommend! Especially if you like to soak up some of the history and culture of Bali visiting some of its most iconic temples. For the Gates of Heaven temple be ready to wait quite a long time for the picture (at the gates), wait times can range from 1 hour to up to 4! Our guide (Wayan) was great, kind, polite and extra friendly and helped us navigate all the lines to make the most out of our time!

Started at 5am to avoid long lines at the temples. Great initiative on their part. Furthermore the tour was awesome and the tour guide provided me with a lot of information about the temples but also Balinese culture, history and norms and values. The tour guide was a great guy to chat with along the way. Definitely recommend this tour and the tour guide!

we had a great day visiting temples, waterfalls, and rice terraces, and criss-crossing Bali. What a wonderful day seeing not the most famous places. Few other travelers everywhere we went, except the marvelous waterfall. We made some adjustments to the itinerary with the help of Topan, our guide, who was very informative, helpful, and felxible.

It was very nice to visit all the temples, the driver Sandy was a great guide!
