Planning Your Visit
How many days to spend in Munich?
If you're just going to tick the city off the list, then 3 days will satisfy any tourist's sightseeing needs. But for a more relaxed trip and to really get to know the city, a week's stay will be much more suitable.
Where to stay?
With public transport being so efficient, location depends on what you want your experience to be. If you want to be close to the main sights, then look for something in Altstadt. For a more modest budget, look in Ludwigsvorstadt near the Hauptbahnhof and the Oktoberfest grounds. Or if you're in the city for the nightlife, then Schwabing, Maxvorstadt, and the Gärtnerplatzviertel-Glockenbachviertel areas will be your best bet.

What people are saying about Munich
This was a wonderful tour! Not only were we able to see the two castles, but we visited beautiful Oberammergau and had a wonderful lunch in Hohenschwangau. The tour guide was wonderful and provided a lot of information about Ludwig II, his life and family. The countryside was beautiful! Since we visited in October, the Fall colors were wonderful and there weren't many crowds. The only downside was that at the Linderhof Castle, many of the sculptures and exterior artwork had been covered up in anticipation of winter snow. Still, the tours of the castles and grounds were wonderful. Highly recommend!
Daniella was the perfect guide. Everything was well organised in advance. We had lots and lots of food to try. Even so much that I could keep some cheese on the side for later. At the end we also had a delish dessert and then a beer of the new (seventh) Munich approved brewery. Perfect all together. I recommend and would do it again with Daniella.
Emotional but very interesting trip. Highly recommend for all. Eric was very knowledgable and it was a nice sized group too.
Great experience! The guide was very knowledgeable & showed a lot of amazing views of the the castle.
