Highlights
  • Visit the historic old town in Nuremburg
  • Take a fully-guided tour of the Nazi rally grounds
  • Learn about the unofficial capital of the first Germanic Empire
Full description
In Nuremberg the Third Reich strutted in all of its pomp in the city’s grandiose marching grounds, and years later an international war crimes tribunal held that same Nazi leadership accountable for its actions. There is much more to see here, however. This is an old and beautiful city with a rich and vibrant history. You’ll see the massive medieval fortifications of the striking old town, magnificent gothic churches, colorful marketplaces, and the hilltop castle of the old imperial city. Your expert guide will accompany you on the 90-minute train journey from and to Munich, and provide a comprehensive tour through Nuremburg. The city’s history is fascinating. It was the unofficial capital of the First Reich, or the first Germanic Empire, which dominated central Europe for a thousand years. It was here that the Imperial Diet of the Holy Roman Empire was hosted. It was a center of cultural and intellectual vitality at the crossroads of major imperial trade routes. Nuremburg also played a key role in the Reformation, and in the printing and scientific revolutions that shaped the modern world.

There were only a couple and I leaving from Munich, which was excellent due to our current situation; in Nürnberg, three more people were waiting for the tour, which is also reasonable. The guide showed us the history of the places, curiosities, and even gave some tips about the city. I would recommend the tour, and the town is lovely; I felt like I was in a medieval movie.

This was the best tour we took while we were in Europe this January. It first starts with our Tour Guide Josh. This man starts by carrying around on his back at least 60 pounds of pictures and reference material which he uses throughout the day to best describe the historical perspective of the tour. It truly enhanced the day. Josh's knowledge of Nuremburg in the morning and Hitler and Nazism in the afternoon is amazing. He truly knows his history and does a great job of presenting it in a fun and entertaining way. My wife and I would loved doing another tour with Josh but we ran out of time. On the train back to Munich Josh also took questions from everyone including a great history of King Ludwig and Neuschwanstein. Nuremberg is a fascinating city and this is an amazing tour especially with Josh!

Sabi was a very outgoing person and he told us every interesting thing about the place. He also had pictures of the things/people he was telling us about and that shows how prepared he was to give his tour. I really recommend going on this tour and I hope that get your guide hires Sabi more often as he really did do an amazing job. A day at Nuremberg is truly a day I will never forget.
