Take a trip down the Romantic Road, a famous 220 mile route linking some of Bavaria's most exquisite architectural gems on a guided tour from Munich. Discover the natural beauty of the region, and the charming town of Rothenburg.

After departure from Munich, travel first to Harburg which is one of the oldest and best-preserved castle complexes in Germany. This perfectly situated castle with its surrounding village retains the feel of the middle ages. Be enchanted by its historic flair and delve deep into its history. After visiting the castle, and pausing for coffee, you will drive on through the wondrous scenery of the Nördlinger Ries – the giant depression left by an ancient meteor in the Swabian landscape.

Travelling via Dinkelsbühl, with its towers and spires, you will reach Rothenburg, a perfectly restored mediaeval town. Take some free time here for extensive exploration. Wander through the beautiful streets and alleyways, which are full of the charm of past times. Your return to Munich will take you through the largest hops-growing region in the world, the Hallertau. It was a very nice tour, the stop at Nordlinger lasted long enough with an explanation of the palace or castle by one of the hostesses, I don't remember her name. It was very pleasant, after that came to Rothenburg the trip is a bit long, but the town is beautiful, we were there around 3:15, an adequate time to go around, have lunch and buy souvenirs and typical sweets. I got a festival with characterizations typical of medieval times, which was amazing, it felt like it was in the 1800s or maybe even further back. I recommend this tour to anyone who likes history and wants to know a town that maintains its medieval architecture

It’s a great tour! Our guide on the bus was very enthusiastic, and knew a lot of interesting facts. At the castle we also had a good guide. Then, I really enjoyed the free time to walk around and explore Rothenburg. It was a long day, but all was organized very well!

It is a bit wrong as Nördlinger was not a stop but Harburg Castle, which there was a good guide on. You were not allowed to take pictures indoors except in the castle hall, which was from the 19th century. The entire room was also worth photographing. Rothenburg was a great experience, however lost the guide so I missed the restaurant she had booked. 3 hours went by quickly but I managed to check out the Christmas shop, buy local ice wine in the liquor store (only made in southern Germany and at a vineyard at Niagara Falls), photograph the street divider that inspired the street piece in Monkey Island where you can buy a "map" from the pirate and talk to the three bad pirates who have a rat. And about a hundred more inspiring pictures.
