Full description
This trip down the Romantic Road, a famous 220 mile route linking some of Bavaria's most exquisite architectural gems, will first take you to the Harburg: one of the oldest, largest and best-preserved castle complexes in southern Germany. This perfectly situated castle was first mentioned in documents of the 11th century and, with its surrounding village, retains the feel of the middle ages. Be enchanted by its historic flair and delve deep into its history. After visiting the castle, and pausing for coffee, you will drive on through the wondrous scenery of the Nördlinger Ries – the giant depression left by an ancient meteor in the Swabian landscape. Travelling via Dinkelsbühl, with its towers and spires, you will reach Rothenburg, a perfectly restored mediaeval town. Here you will have time for extensive exploration. Meander through the beautiful streets and alleyways, which are full of the charm of past times. Pick up a treasure or two in the boutiques, or have a meal in an exclusive restaurant. Your return to Munich will take you through the largest hops-growing region in the world, the Hallertau. On this tour you will surely see one of the most beautiful regions of south Germany.

Monika was excellent, really informative and passionate and was a highlight of our visit to Munich; giving great recommendations for food, drink and trips. Harburg Castle was a lovely surprise, but Rottenburg was absolutely stunning. There was so much to see and do and the only improvement would be to have another hour there. Beautiful place and you must try the wine!

Smiley was our driver and Elizabeth our guide. Both were extremely nice and friendly, and we had a wonderful time with them. Elizabeth thought us a lot of things we didn't know in Munich and along the way through Harbour castle. The castle is medieval and really nice. Price is 9 eur which is not included in the trip cost (the only thing I did not like). Rothenburg is a dreamy village and worth visiting it.

Monica was a great guide, Harburg Castle was lovely. The only complaint is that three hours in Rothenburg includes 20 + 20 mins to walk back and forth to the town from the bus which leaves just over two hours for lunch and exploring which is not a lot of time.
