Madrid: Reina Sofía Museum Entrance Ticket

1. Madrid: Reina Sofía Museum Entrance Ticket

Visit the Reina Sofía Museum which represents an intersection of spaces, objects, and times: a place where narratives are woven together and stories told, rendering every intersection meaningful as it leads off in one direction or another, turning it into an intense experience of discovery and knowledge. This is why everything that is exhibited, in all its strangeness, all its questions, has to actually touch the visitor’s everyday reality, bringing about a genuine learning experience. The Museo Reina Sofia’s presentation of its collection posits a multi-narrative journey, which adopts a definite standpoint and not only keeps the mystery inherent in art alive, but also strengthens resistance towards the single, fixed reading. Traditional genres coexist side by side with photography, film, sound and dance. With your full-day ticket, you will have access to more than 21,000 works currently on display in the main building.

Madrid: Picasso's Guernica in Reina Sofia Museum

10. Madrid: Picasso's Guernica in Reina Sofia Museum

On the occasion of the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Picasso's death, it is an ideal visit to understand the legacy of Pablo Picasso, his work and his passionate and revolutionary character, which continues to generate so much interest today. Through your guide, you will discover the artist's masterpiece: Guernica, the secrets and symbols hidden behind this internationally recognized icon of art, as well as the process of making it and the transcendental story behind the work. Guernica is a painting painted in Paris between the months of May and June 1937, whose title alludes to the bombing of Guernica, which occurred on April 26, 1937, during the Spanish Civil War. In 1981 the work finally reached Spain. It was first exhibited at the “Casón del Buen Retiro”, and since 1992 it can be seen at the Reina Sofía Museum in Madrid, where it is on permanent display. Its interpretation creates controversy and debate, as there are several symbolic figures that arouse disparate opinions. But there is something that cannot be discussed: its artistic and historical value, since it reflects one of the most convulsive moments in the history of our country. It is considered an icon of the 20th century, a symbol of the terrible suffering that war inflicts on human beings. Critic Robert Hughes said of Guernica that it was "the last great historical painting"

What people are saying about Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía

Marta was a true professional. Really knows a lot about modern art (after all, she is an art historian…haha). But seriously, we enjoyed seeing some of the best works in Reina Sofia and the historical context and interpretations Marta provided really brought the pieces to life. Highly recommend this tour!

The museum was fine, but the it had many surreal exhibits that I never understood, in asittion to the fact that to enter the waiting line was so long that it took us more that an hour to enter. It's a lie that whit thw ticket you can skip the line.

The museum has a great collection of more modern era art. The most significant piece in my opinion is Guernica by Pablo Picasso- read the history before viewing and look for a 3d video on you tube- very moving experience.

Ideal day and time to visit was Sunday at 10:30. Not crowded at all. Enjoyed the temp and perm collections.

Amazing experience! Leon, our tour guide, was supper funny, kind and knowledgeable. Highly recommended!
