The museum was easy to find and not far from a Metro station. The ticket cost was reasonable & most worthwhile The staff in the museum were very helpful & allowed us to go out for a coffee & then come back in with our tickets. We specifically went to see all the Leonardo da Vinci exhibits & we were highly impressed with the presentations & of course the man himself. We’ll worth a visit if you are in Milan.

The museum is great and really big so depending on your interests I would advise looking for what it offers in advance to not spend to much time on things you’re not interested in and not having time to enjoy what you are passionate about. We enjoyed the most the Da Vinci exhibition which had small replicas of mechanisms crated after his notes. Regarding booking the ticket in advance, there was no line to be skipped even though we went on a Saturday and inside was quite crowded so if you want the flexibility of going in any day of your vacation and not be constrained to just one specific day, I think it’s better to buy the ticket on site

Very rich museum, it would take several visits to really enjoy everything. However there is no audio guide and without explanation it loses its interest, especially for children. Moreover, there is no common thread. Be careful to enter the submarine you must book in advance. Ditto for activities for children. There is a garden where you can relax and tables for picnics inside but beware the "snack area" is only a small nook where there is a vending machine, nothing more.
