Enjoy our city through Museum of the City of New York. MCNY fosters an understanding of the unique nature of urban life in the world’s most influential metropolis. It engages visitors by celebrating, documenting, and interpreting the city’s past, present, and future. The building is historical, but MCNY exhibits are eye-catching and daring, taking on important topics through exciting new lenses. through objects, images, video, photography, and interactive digital experiences in “New York at Its Core”, a new ongoing exhibition in three galleries. Watch Timescapes, an ongoing short documentary that brings viewers on a 28-minute journey through 400 years of NYC history. Get impassioned by the city's long history of social movements, from abolitionism and nativism to the Young Lords and BLM, in Activist New York. In our rotating special exhibits, you'll find deep dives into fascinating topics of New York's history, present and future. Visit mcny.org to see what's on show!   If you get "museum feet", take a break at Amy’s Bread, our cafe operated by the award-winning NYC bakery, and have a look a the Museum Shop, which offers a wide array of exhibition-related and New York City-centric items and gifts. MCNY is located at the top of Museum Mile and across from Central Park’s Conservatory Gardens and housed in a newly renovated 1932 Georgian Colonial-Revival building.
