Full description

See the ruins at Pompeii and Herculaneum before heading to the top of the volcano that destroyed them on this trip from Naples. Choose from the option to be picked up at Stazione Marittima or from the Hotel Ramada at 8:30 AM.

Travel first to Herculaneum, the residence of Roman Patricians, completely submerged by volcanic mud. Wander through the streets and see colorful mosaics.

Next, head up to the top of the imposing volcano Vesuvius. Walk around its stunning crater and enjoy panoramic views of Naples below.

Finally, stop at Pompeii, the impressive open-air museum that holds more than 2000 years of history.

There are no guides included with this tour within Pompeii or Herculaneum and the ticket to Pompeii is not included. It was a bit disappointing to have to pay an additional fee if you wanted an audio guide to the two ancient sites. We were taken to Mt. Vesuvius but the weather did not cooperate and we were not able to see anything - but that was not the fault of the tour company. The guide on the bus was excellent, but the bus was packed and the seats were small.

We had an amazing trip - we only had a couple of days in Naples so this was perfect to make sure we saw everything (although we could have spent days at each of the sights!). Anita and Nunzio (our lovely driver) kept us entertained and informed the whole day. We were able to walk around the sights on our own, but we were given some of the main bits to see. We had pre booked our tickets to Herculaneum and Pompeii as not included but that was clear and expected. Thanks again for such a memorable and lovely (but tiring) day, we’ll definitely be back to Naples and spend some more time there.

The day tour was great, long and hot depending upon the time of year. The ticketing arrangements by GYG were appalling, included in our purchase was entry to Mt Vesuvius. When the tour started I was told that the information GYG had sent me via email was not the ticket. Therefore we had to purchase a ticket on the mountain, this is shonky as one man buys all the tickets upon release and on sells them for more. This tour ends up very expensive, you purchase your voucher from GYG, then you pay for entry at each venue, in our case it ended up being ALL three venues. We ended our day feeling very disappointed. Napoli appears to have a culture of everyone being in for themselves, we didn't find the place, friendly or helpful.
