Full description

Come and see enchanting scenery unfold before your eyes in a secret place full of history and atmosphere. This emotional journey conducts visitors through the new section of the underground of Naples. The Bourbon Tunnel was built in 1853 by Ferdinand II of Bourbon, who, concerned about the outbreak of the rebellion, asked for an escape from the Royal Palace to the barrack in Via della Pace, now Via Morelli.

The work was not completed and, during the Second World War, the tunnel was used by residents of the area as a military hospital, later becoming the Hall Judicial Deposit. The war left its mark even in the subsoil where we find handwritten messages of wishes and desolation of those who lived there. In the tunnels, you will also find statues dating back to the fascist period and a unique exhibition of many cars and motorcycles, abandoned for years and then freed from piles of rubbish, arranged and illuminated ad hoc along the route.

The tour was great! Our guide, unfortunately I don't remember her name anymore, went to a lot of trouble, explained a lot and answered all questions. It seemed that leadership meant a lot to her and she cared about it. A very different side of Naples that greatly enriched my stay there. Thanks so much .

I love seeing the different underground worlds as they are never the same and the uniqueness of this one made it interesting for the different uses throughout time. The English guide was very informative and willing to answer questions and even letting us know how many steps down we would have to go (90) I would not recommend if you don’t like tight spaces as the stairs down are very close, and also unless children interested in history don’t take them as they will be bored. The old cars at the end are great but I felt there was to much time on cars (but them I am not a car fan) I would say worth going if you have an hour and doesn’t cost much but wouldn’t be top of a recommendation list

The tunnels are a unique experience and present four stories through remnants of past uses. Our guide gave a good English-language tour with only minimal concerns over her accent and our old ears. Once couple in our group had difficulty in descending the many flights of stairs at the start but was generally able to navigate the spaces well.
