Full description
Travel back in time to the devastating day in 79 AD the brooding volcano of Mount Vesuvius erupted and buried the Roman city of Pompeii beneath molten ash.  On arrival, your expert guide will take you on a 2-hour tour through the remains of this UNESCO world heritage site remarkably frozen in time for almost 2,000 years. One of the most popular destinations in the world, you will hear stories about the Forum, Thermal Baths, Vetti’s House, and the Lupanare.  Following a typical Naples lunch of pizza at one of Pompeii’s cafés, you will then be driven close to the summit of the mountain that destroyed it. From there, it's just a walk to the lip of the crater. The only active volcano in continental Europe, Vesuvius has erupted many times, but it was the destruction of Pompeii and its surrounding towns that made it most famous. Climb to the top, and walk around the crater, taking in the atmosphere of the smoking mountain. Enjoy the stunning views over the Bay of Naples. You will return to Naples at approximately 5:00 PM, where you will be dropped off at your hotel, the cruise ship, or the railway station.

This was an incredible experience. I almost didn’t attend the Pompeii part of the trip but I am so glad I did- it was the highlight of my trip to Italy this time. Why was the Pompeii tour so great you ask? Francesca, the guide, was knowledgeable, friendly, funny and delivered the historical information in a relatable and intriguing way. Her captivating story telling transported me to AD79. It is mind blowing that Pompeiians - some ~2000 years ago- laid the groundwork for many of our modern days comforts and amenities. Heated floors? Yep. Crosswalks? Yep. Sewage/pipe system? You know it - well, you will once you go on this tour. Hiking Mt. Vesuvius was a good little workout and offered gorgeous views of the town below and seeing smoke emanate from the active volcano was pretty cool. Recommend closed toe shoes here- maybe a sneaker with a little traction- def don’t need hiking shoes/boots. Highly recommend this experience when visiting the Naples area.

The tour was divided into two parts with two destinations and two different guides. The first guide was very good and spoke very good understandable English ((we had booked the tour in English), the second guide unfortunately spoke poor English and explained a lot in Italian (to the Italian participants), but to the English speakers a maximum of 10% of it , and during the ascent to Vwsuv she was no longer there, the English-speaking participants were left to their own devices, so unfortunately not full marks.

It was really very interesting! Bring good shoes! You can smell the sulfur and the volcano is smoking, it's impressive! No guide who goes up to the top but this is normal, she is very nice and helped us to find the archaeological museum after the day visit Pompei and Vesuvius. We keep a very positive note of it.I recommend it if you want to take full eyes
