Excellent! This spot is definitely worth your time and money, there is so much to see! I recommend parking at the Prince Henry the Navigator Park. There is plenty of parking there, it’s free, and it’s only about a mile away from the museum. The walk between the park and the museum is really nice as it is located on an island in the middle of New Bedford Harbor and is connected to the mainland by the bridge so it has a great view of the water and the city.
This museum is more than just the history of whaling. It provides an intensive examination of the Cetae and an around the world history of the world that made its living from the whale. I learned so much about every aspect of the whaling adventure in a beautiful venue.
It was like being in your own private Museum!! Haven’t been there for a couple of years so was stunned by the new exhibits!! And the variety and depth of these exhibits!
The New Bedford Whaling Museum is great. Lots to see, especially the 1,000 whale heart exhibit, the huge model ship replica and so much more. A must see for all ages.
A New England historical gem with an excellently curated gallery.
