Full description
Experience the two things Louisiana is famous for: Plantation homes and swamps. On this combination tour you will see both of these interesting sights. Tour one of the two best-known plantation homes in the area, Oak Alley Plantation or the Laura plantation. With an impressive lane of live oaks towering over the entrance of Laura plantation, Oak Alley provides us with a unique insight into the days of slavery. Built in 1837-39, the plantation is famous for its alley of 28 evenly spaced live oak trees, believed to be at least 100 years older than the house itself. Guests can also choose to visit the Laura plantation. Built in 1805, the “memoirs of Laura” exhibit will transport guests to a different time, to the lives of the creole men, women, slaves and children who occupied the plantation. Then, be taken on a narrated tour of the swamps. The Louisiana bayous are full of alligators, turtles and beautiful water birds. Your local captain will tell you tales of Cajun people living in the swamps. The creole history is both entertaining and mysterious.

The Laura Plantation Tour was the best tour that we have had at a plantation. Joseph was our tour guide and he did amazing at explaining the history and culture of the plantation. I highly recommend visiting this plantation if you want to hear the real life story of the history and people that have lived there. Great experience.

Our bus driver was very kind and knowledgeable! The swamp tour was amazing! We weren’t expecting to see any alligators due to the weather however we saw 4! The plantation was also fantastic! Amazing people! Be sure to bring cash for tipping the bus driver and boat captain! Will definitely be back to Cajun Pride!

Driver was knowledgeable about the New Orleans area and made the drive out to the swamp and plantation enjoyable and fast. The swamp boat ride was great. Captain Tom shared a lot of information about the Bayou and allowed us to hold a small alligator at the end. The Oak Alley Plantation grounds was beautiful. The tour guides on premises were very knowledgeable and friendly. I would suggest touring the home first then navigate the grounds as the time there does go by fast. Overall, great experience!
