Our driver out to the plantation and swamp tour,, Gary was amazing!!! It makes a huge difference in the experience when there's a bit of driving involved to have someone with a sense of humor and awesome personality. Everyone at the plantation was friendly and knowledgeable. The oaks at the plantation were amazing. Our swamp boat captain, whose name isn't coming to me right now (he has Bill, lol) was awesome!! Someone else with a sense of humor! Loved the mix of alligator searching with some insight and education. Definitely a must do!
The grounds were beautiful and the tour was great! All the exhibits are very well done and maintained. The slave quarters were very moving. We wished we’d had more time to spend! We didn’t love the transportation- our bus was a bit late for pickup, and extremely late getting us back to the city.
The tour of the plantation house was very interesting. However, the best part of the whole experience was the airboat/swamp ride! The guide that we were with was very informative and a lot of fun. I wish I knew his name so I could recommend him for everyone!
The plantation was a good opportunity to get to see the different experiences had by both the plantation owners as well as those enslaved on the plantation. Our driver, Gary, was great! The airboat tour was the best!! Highly recommend!!!!
This was a great tour. There is a lot to learn here at the Whitney. However, we not allowed to tour the main house. A very big disappointment. If you are considering going, be aware of this.
