Full description
Discover the history and modern day jazz scene in New York on a leisurely walking tour of Greenwich Village. In the company of an expert jazz guide, visit the best clubs and see the best bands performing live - all cover charges are included in the tour price. Move from club to club (typically 3 clubs per night) seeking out the energy for which the Village jazz scene is famous. Your guide will point out defunct clubs from jazz history, such as the Cafe Society, where Billie Holiday made her downtown debut, as well as other long gone clubs like Sweet Basil's, The Village Gate, and Cafe Bohemia, where Charles Mingus, Art Blakey and Miles Davis once introduced their latest compositions. Sign up for a Monday night tour and see New York's oldest jazz joint to hear yesterday's trad’ jazz performed to salty perfection. The tour ends smack in the middle of the best jazz scene in New York, where your guide will help you get to the next club on your own, or back to your hotel if you prefer. You're also invited to keep the party going at a jazz supper club in the neighborhood (tickets available at checkout).

Good tour - but not enough clubs

Good tour and professional guide, but the price-performance ratio would do with a few more clubs on the tour. We met in the first club, went together in a second and in the third there was dinner + jazz. The tour is over. No club cost admission, drinks and dinner you pay for yourself ... - you wonder what justifies the high prices. The guide is cool - knows a lot about jazz and knows his way around. We do not regret participation (despite the high price) - but would rather do our own research in the future ...

The bars and venues visited are good but they are free to enter and the activity does not include food or drink, so we find it expensive
