80 km from Lisbon you will find Obidos. The fortified village of Obidos is one of the ex-libris of Portuguese heritage. Obidos will be a surprise for you, since it is a medieval village surrounded by the walls of the Castle of Obidos, serving as a living testimony that has remained almost unchanged since the end of the 17th century. Taste the traditional sour cherry liqueur called Ginjinha in a chocolate cup. Return to the road and head to Nazare, a fishing village known worldwide for its giant waves that reach 30 meters (Praia do Norte). Enjoy the fantastic panoramic view over the beach of Nazare from 'Sitio,' the highest point of the village. Nazare is a traditional fisherman's village in Portugal, now a busy summer destination, which has kept its maritime traditions. Time for lunch. Before arriving at your hotel in Porto, exit the route and head toward Fatima to visit Cova de Iria, home to the Sanctuary of Fátima's place of prayers and monuments. The Chapel of the Apparitions, considered the heart of the Sanctuary, was built in 1919, in the exact location where the Apparitions took place. In addition to the Chapel of Apparitions, enjoy a visit to the complete Sanctuary.

On this route you will be delighted by the right bank of the Douro River to the sea. Along the way, we will pass through some historical neighborhoods that border the river, from Miragaia, through Massarelos to Lordelo do Ouro. Then we will enter Foz do Douro, a locality that only in the 19th century became part of the Porto municipality. A bathing area by excellence, it was much sought after by the Porto aristocracy. Here we will find the beautiful Jardim do Passeio Alegre and the oldest district of the western part of the city, Foz Velha. Be dazzled by the narrow streets of this neighborhood and with a São João Baptista church on top of it. There will still be time to stroll along the Atlantic, Brazil and Montevideo avenues until you reach the Gonçalves Zarco Square (rotunda do Castelo do Queijo). Here we can see Matosinhos Beach in the distance, famous for surfing, in fact, it is known as one of the best beaches in the north of Portugal for beginners. We go over the viaduct, above Parque da Cidade until Praça Cidade do S. Salvador (rotunda da Anémona), we continue and make our way to the beach. On the way back there will still be time to stop at a special viewpoint, and have a beautiful panoramic view of the Douro River estuary, with the natural reserve and the left bank.
