Hjalteyri: Whale-Watching Boat Trip

1. Hjalteyri: Whale-Watching Boat Trip

It's not surprising that many northerners believe that Hjalteyri is one of the best-kept secrets of North Iceland. Eyjafjörður is a favorable habitat for marine life, so favorable in fact that whales were spotted on all of these tours in 2016. On this whale-watching tour, you'll graciously glide through the calm seas of Eyjafjörður under the guidance and expertise of a qualified crew. This tour is approximately two-and-a-half hours long. This tour gives you the unique and exceptional opportunity to get in touch with the magnificent wildlife found in the north of Iceland, most notably the majestic whales and seabirds.

What people are saying about North Iceland

We got to see 4 humpback whales and it was an amazing experience! The captain and the guide were very good and competent, we were provided with antifreeze suits and at the end of the tour we were given hot chocolate and a good cinnamon candy. Value for money in my opinion excellent! Highly recommended !!

This has to be one of the best things I have ever done. Bothe captain of the boat and the guide were incredibly knowledgeable and we saw several humpback whales. And then to top it off we were treated to a pod of dolphins. Excellent hot chocolate and cinnamon bun too.

The tour was a complete success and the operators didn't check your watch too closely. So we had something of the whales longer. A small snack and a cocoa were also very good on the way back.

A very friendly crew tries everything to make the 3-hour tour successful, interesting and entertaining!

Our guide was wonderful and the captain made sure we were close enough to the whales.
