The fjord - or a sea inlet, usually surrounded by cliffs - is part of the geographical Norwegian imagination. So it's only fitting that the capital, Oslo, has its own! What are the best ways to while away the hours on Oslofjord?
Relax for a couple hours, taking pictures of traditional seaside homes, as well as the mountainous natural landscape. Add a shrimp dinner or see a live blues performance on board!
The freedom on a bike is always the best! Glide along and breathe in the salty fjord air, it's nothing short of perfect. Rent a city bike card at the Oslo Visitor Center!
Get away from the city buzz and experience some tranquility on one of Oslo's islands. Forests and hiking trails make this a retreat for residents and tourists alike.
Spring or summer - March to September - will have lovely weather, although it may be a little rain-prone!
It depends where your starting point is - whether it's from the pier in front of City Hall or Opera House, it will be at 9:45AM and 10:15AM respectively. Cruises last up to two hours.
May 17th is a national holiday in Norway, as are December 24th and 25th.
This was the BEST DECISION ever!! The men crewing the boat were so kind. The entire ship was gorgeous, from the wood detailing to the picnic tables to the cushioned seats to the twinkling lights. It was freezing outside and raining and gusting wind but the boat was driven expertly and did not rock violently at all. Loved it so much and made my whole trip!
We are usually sceptical about tourist traps but this cruise has well exceeded our expectations. We were fortunate to have good weather, the cruise around the fjord waterways at sunset was amazing, and finally the shrimp buffet was so fresh and tasty. Excellent way to end our last day in Oslo.
Great tour, 2hrs was perfect - not too short and not too long. Sensible prices of drinks and plenty of blankets available (but I strongly recommend wearing suitable clothing anyway!).
In March it is very cold so wear warm footwear! The scenery of Oslo Fjord which you will see is nicely varied and the commentary is useful without being too long winded
Great afternoon out - audio was just enough to give some fun facts of the surroundings so you could enjoy the surroundings without disruption for most of the journey
