Starting off from your accommodation in Marrakech take the scenic journey to the lovely little Berber village of Ouirgane. Your driver will stop when you wish for photo opportunities or for a break if needed or just to admire the views as they unfold. Ouirgane buzzes with activity on Thursdays when Berber families flock down from the mountains by donkey to the souk It has become a very popular base for day walks into the Tassa Ouirgane National Park and longer treks to Jbel (Mount) Toubkal and Amizmiz areas, and also benefits from a lake thanks to a recently constructed dam. You will get to see the views, the animals, the forests, the countryside and the culture whilst under the professional guidance of your trained and experienced guide. The Berber people are friendly and welcoming by nature and they will be more than happy to spend some time with you as you explore their lands and their villages. Once you get to Ouirgane Valley, you will hike around the vast ancient forest of Ouirgane, passing many other Berber villages and abodes. Some of the trees in the forests of North Africa can grow up to 55 meters in height. You may find examples of the Atlas Cedar, the Algerian Oak or the Black European Pine. There are also many different types of local fauna and, if you are lucky you may get to see some of the rarer creatures that live in this region. During your experience, your guide will be pleased to share with you all his knowledge of Berber world, the local culture and the most beautiful landscapes that his region offers. Option of visiting the Argan cooperative to participate in a wonderful introduction and learning experience about the production of Argan in feminine co-operative, a bread & oil tasting with Moroccan tea will be welcomed.

Nestled in the tranquil foothills of the High Atlas Mountains in the heart of the Toubkal National Park is the pretty Berber village of Ouirgane. Wonderful views of the Toubkal range, walking, horse riding, mountain biking, a wide variety of birdlife and a fresh and invigorating altitude of 1,000 metres await the traveller who makes it here.  Ouirgane is only a one hour drive from Marrakech and is located on the valley floor of the Oued ‘River’ Nfis.    En route a stop sill be made at the busy little town of Asni which is a buzz of activity as local Berbers ply to sell their produce, particularly on Saturdays – market day.    Once in Ouirgane time is free to explore the village. Fed by the Oued Nfis from the Atlas, a perennial water source, the village is surprisingly verdant – a real oasis in the mountains. In recent years a dam was built creating a reservoir which adds to the visual appeal of the valley.   The most popular activity for visitors is walking. Market day is Thursday.    Lunch is at local restaurant .
