Naples: Panoramic E-Bike Tour

5. Naples: Panoramic E-Bike Tour

Start from the ancient street of Spaccanapoli located in the heart of the historic city of Naples to reach Piazza del Municipio where the castle Maschio Angioino is located and then head to Piazza Plebiscito with its royal palace and San Carlo theater. Proceed to the promenade along the cycle path where you will stop at the ancient village of Marinaro which houses Castel dell'Ovo, the oldest castle of Naples and source of ancient legends like that of the siren Parthenope. In front of the castle, you will see Monte Echia, considered the  first settlement area of Neapolis by the Greeks. Your tour will then continue crossing the magnificent coastline by the splendid gulf setting characterized by Vesuvius, the Sorrento Peninsula and the islands of Capri, Ischia and Procida. Your next stop will be at Virgilian Natural Park from where you can easily climb the hill of Posillipo. From here, you will leave to cross the former industrial area of Bagnoli and visit the North pier (a walk of 1000 meters over the sea and a work of industrial architecture that was the old pontoon of ILVA). Finally, return to the center through the west of the city.

Naples: City Highlights Self-Guided Audio Walking Tour

6. Naples: City Highlights Self-Guided Audio Walking Tour

”You see Naples,” said the German poet Wolfgang Goethe, “then you die.” But this isn’t supposed to sound ominous. Goethe was paraphrasing a local saying that suggests you can learn everything you need to live well by visiting this most Italian of cities, with its proud traditions, delicious food and seaside beauty under the timeless watch of Mount Vesuvius. And what about history? There’s been a lot of it here, from Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome, and Byzantium to Goths, Saracen Pirates, Angevines, Aragonese, Bourbons and Napoleonic generals. I’ve spent time studying these episodes for my podcast, A History of Italy, and I’ll guide you through them today, while we walk. The tour starts in one of Italy's largest squares near the impressive Castel Nuovo. From there, we’ll make our way through the theatre district and the main shopping street where you can taste some Neapolitan delicacies. That’ll take us to the grand Piazza del Plebiscito where you’ll find the imposing Royal Palace of Naples and Naples Cathedral. We’ll end the tour with a stroll along the seaside, where there are views of the city stretching out towards Vesuvius. The tour ends at the ancient and oddly named “egg castle”, Castel dell'Ovo. Join me on this walk to some of the most important historical landmarks of old Naples. Along the way, you’ll discover why “That's Amore” as you fall in love with the city like so many others have before you.

Walking tour of the Royal Naples

7. Walking tour of the Royal Naples

A tour not to be missed for those who want to admire the noble and elegant past of Bourbon Naples. Our starting point will be Piazza Municipio, where we will admire Bernini's Fountain of Neptune and the Castel Nuovo, known as the Maschio Angioino. We will then visit the city's most representative Belle Epoque sites: the Umberto Gallery and the Gambrinus café. We will pass by the oldest opera house in the world that is still active today, the San Carlo Theatre, and the magnificent Royal Palace in Piazza Plebiscito where we will talk about the main kings of Naples who ruled the city until 1861. We will stroll along the central Via Toledo, right next to the Spanish quarters, before finishing the tour at the start of the Naples seafront, not far from the first castle in Naples, the Castel dell'Ovo! A real tour full of beautyness.

Line B allows you to have an overview of the coast, we did the entire route without going down, and it really deserves it! Line A, on the other hand, being dedicated to the part of the historic center, lends itself to descents and ascents. Both are useful for an overview of the city.

Po meni vrlo jednostavan način za obići grad i upoznati ga na brzinu. Postoje dvije linije, jedna koja ide uz grad, a druga koja ide u zaljev. Crvena i plava. Naravno možete izaći na bilo kojoj stanici koja je mjesto vašeg interesa i ponovo uči i vratiti se na početno mjesto.

Great wines, excellent food, fantastic service, we couldn’t have asked for more!
