This is a simple introduction for a first-time surfer or someone who has tried surfing a few times and needs some pointers. The instruction starts with beach lesson reviewing: how to position yourself on the board, paddling techniques, and proper stance. Once in the water students will get pointers on maneuvering waves, balance techniques, and surf etiquette. Santa Barbara Adventure Company’s surf lessons offer students a great foundation for this exciting sport. Our knowledgeable instructors have over 25 years of combined experience and will use their skills to point out the finer points of catching waves. Instructors choose surf sites based on the current swell and tide conditions, finding the best breaks for successful learning. Lessons require a minimum of four students.

What people are saying about Oxnard

The surf course itself was great and covered all the important basics. Our guide, Beau, was super nice. If he noticed that we were getting too exhausted to paddle out, he would kindly pull us out to sea and always give us a boost to catch the waves. 4 hours for a beginner's course are definitely too long. If you are not used to the movement, you will quickly become too exhausted to actually be able to surf, and you will still not get much better than after a 2-hour course.

Pablo was the best! We we're only the two of us, he really motivated and guided us good. Now we have the basics of surfing down.

Beau is a great surfing instructor. He not only taught us about surfing, he taught us about life! 10/10, would recommend.

Beau was simply superb, patient, helpful, great relationship skills and it was a morning to remember because of him!!

Very friendly guide, she took her time and explained everything very well
