Full description
With its quaint, narrow streets and Arabic-influenced urban structure, Palermo is a city made for walking. Begin your private tour in the main square of Piazza Verdi, where you will meet your experienced, local guide. At the center of the square is Teatro Massimo, one of the largest opera houses in Europe. It is possible to visit the theater upon request and according to the schedule of the theater. Next, see Ruggero VII Street, named the Lounge of Palermo, and cross Pepe Belmonte Street with its historic shops. Continue along the alleys and streets of the Arabic-influenced neighborhoods before arriving at the famous and lively Capo Market. Inside the market, marvel at the beautiful and ancient palazzos and the unique Church of the Immaculate Conception. Go inside to see its intricate Baroque monuments. Stop at the Cathedral and the many churches along Via Vittorio Emanuele. Next, arrive at Piazza San Domenico to tour the Church of Saint Dominic. Your guide will also take you on a tour of the Vucciria Market, a historic, open-air market.  Following the walking tour, your guide will lead you to a charming location to enjoy a freshly prepared, homemade lunch with a selection of Sicilian wines. Marialuisa was knowledgeable, sensitive, caring and flexible.

What a great idea -a walking tour in Palermo with Marialuisa! What a nice personality ... she knows the merchants in the market and the hidden treasures and byways of the city. With a good command of English, she showed a great read of our interests and physical capabilities as we made our way around this bustling, fascinating city. A highlight was the very personal meal she prepared for us in her nearby apartment at the tour's end.

Good friendly guide but expensive

We ware expecting more for the price we pay,and we didn't see many of the historical places, except the cathedral going in and out, because was Sunday and was a service, It was mostly a walk for streets and squares, and the Capo market that we had seen the day before,we have to go on our own to discover all the important sites and churches in Palermo, included Teatro Máximo and capilla Palatina, the lunch was OK little quantity two dishes of caponata, and little spaghetti with a nice dessert cake,Maria Luisa is charming and friendly and was like a real friend to us,we had a memorable time with her,but after some good thinking we realise the tour was too much expensive for what we got,not value for money. Siciliansdays run by Marialuisa is a big business ripoff, We wish have give a better review because she was very friendly and nice, but it is our honest opinion. It could be our own fault for not enquire more what we ware going to get in the tour, in that case, then it was a good day tour.

Very nice day

Patrizia the owner and the english speaking guide of this tour takes this tour. It was a nice small group and she took us to many places visited markets before we came to her house. She had a great house and I snoozed in the next door living room before we ate! We had the most terrific pasta and cake! she also caters for gluten free!
