The Père Lachaise Cemetery, Paris’s largest cemetery, is probably best known to foreign visitors as the final resting place of James Morrison, the lead singer of The Doors. To Parisians, it’s also known for The Communard’s Wall where the last insurrectionists were shot at the end of the Commune's (another French revolution) “Bloody Week.” On this walk with Fred, you’ll pay your respects to the likes of Guillaume Appolinaire, Marcel Proust, Molière, Chopin and Oscar Wilde, who died in Paris in 1900. We had an amazing guide! Amazing knowledge. It was absolutely great to go with a guide and learn a lot about the history of the place, french history, the famous people buried there etc. Overall, an amazing experience and would highly recommend it. Much better than just walking around there.

We had a wonderful tour with Fred (of Fred Walks). Our tour included 2 adults and 2 adolescents. Fred provided a lot of background on French history that was useful throughout our trip (understanding monuments, paintings, etc.), as well as information and stories about specific monuments and "residents" of Pere-Lachaise. He kept us moving, was funny and interesting, and very responsive to questions and interests within the group.

Avant la visite je recommande de déjeuner à L'Etoile de Charonne juste à côté du point de rdv. Nous avons eu la chance d'avoir Fred comme guide pour la visite du cimetière du Père Lachaise juste pour nous puisque nous étions un peu hors saison (en Novembre) et les restrictions dues au Covid n'aident pas le tourisme.
