Full description
Join a small group or a private tour and experience the history of the French Revolution. Visit major historical sites such as the Bastille, Place de la Concorde, and the Hôtel de Ville and learn the history with an expert guide. Start your walking adventure at the Bastille and understand the events that led to the revolution. Continue to the Pantheon, which was transformed into the “mausoleum for the great men of the Nation” by the revolutionary government. Next stop: Luxembourg Gardens, home of the Luxembourg Palace. During the revolution, the palace became a prison. Make a turn and see the Church of Saint Sulpice. Admire the second largest church in Paris, famous for its lob-sided towers. Then, stop for a rest at Café Procope, a favorite of the revolutionaries. See curious items belonging to famous French figures like Napolean and Marie Antoinette. Next, head towards one of the most prominent landmarks in Paris, Paris City Hall. Hear the story of the Bastille’s governor, who was dragged by the angry mob and killed there. Continue to the Conciergerie, the official residence of the French Kings until the Louvre Palace. Queen Marie Antoinette was brought here and tried before being sent to the guillotine. Follow the River Seine towards Place de la Concorde and see where the guillotine stood. Stand at the site where Louis XVI, Queen Marie Antoinette, Danton, and Robespierre were executed. Next, visit the gardens of the Palais Royal, and learn about its history and architecture. Continue your walk to the statue of Thomas Jefferson, an inspiration to the revolutionaries. Finish your tour at the Hôtel des Invalides and discover how the mob raided it for weapons before attacking the Bastille that same day.
