Enjoy an exclusive day trip to the city of Reims, and discover where many French kings were crowned before the French Revolution. Upon arrival, take a guided walk around the city center, and then go to the unique Reims Cathedral.

Learn about its place in French history as the traditional coronation place for the kings of France. Marvel at its fine French Gothic architecture, and hear about some of the treasures contained within its walls. Next, transfer to the legendary vineyards of the Champagne region to taste different types of sparkling wine. Then, sit down and take the opportunity to discover local gastronomy. Savor a three-course lunch including a starter, main, and dessert at a local restaurant. You will visit one of the most prestigious wine-growing companies in the region. We had a great time. Our driver, Victor, was fantastic. He was very friendly and had interesting information along the the way. He was kind enough to take us to the Belleau Wood memorial on the way back so that this old Marine could drink from the Devil Dog fountain.

Our guide (Guillaume) picked us up on time at the door of our building, which was a bit off the beaten track, and dropped us there at the end. Our ride was a comfortable air-conditioned Mercedes van, and Guillaume chatted about wine and the city as he navigated out of the Paris maze of streets. In Epernay, he gave a lovely tour of the vineyards and facts/history of the region, before taking us to the Abbey in Hautvillers to see the burial place of Dom Perignon. We visited three champagne houses--one for it's excellent wine-making tour, one for it's excellent champagne, and the third for it's astonishing caves. We had six generous glasses of wine, and an outstanding lunch (which Guillaume shared with us, translating the menu). It was a very enjoyable day (the bright sunshine didn't hurt), though we never made it to Riems--so I'm dinging the tour a star. The description should be corrected if Riems isn't a part of the tour.

This was the best and most informative guided tour that we’ve ever taken. It greatly exceeded our expectations. The visit to Champagne and the area was enough to please, but the knowledge and teaching ability of our guide, Guillon, was superior. He was also courteous, gracious and fun. He was very approachable. Also great was the small group size, hotel pickup and drop off and a very nice, delicious and exquisite dining experience for lunch in Epernay. This was well worth the price and a great value when you consider the place and our host/ guide. Oh, and we were able to taste some excellent champagne and learn a little about how to distinguish between the different offerings from different producers.
