Full description

Set off on a food and fun-filled experience from Parma. See for yourself where some of your favorite, classically Italian products are made — a Parmigiano-Reggiano producer in the Highlands, a Prosciutto di Parma perfecter in Parma's hills, and a balsamic vinegar creator in Reggio-Emilia. A guide will lead you around at each stop.

Depart from Parma towards the so-called Highlands. Meet the first local host directly on-site and visit an authentic family-run producer of Parmigiano-Reggiano. You’ll be a privileged witness of a magical practice repeated every single day in the same way for at least 1,000 years now.

Taste 2-3 different agings of this famous hard cheese. Hop back on board and head on to the panoramic hills of Parma. Explore a small, artisanal, family-run Prosciutto di Parma complex, from the fresh meat trimming area and the drying rooms upstairs to the final aging cellars.

Sample Prosciutto di Parma, other typical cured meats, Parmigiano Reggiano, homemade cakes, local wine, water, and coffee. Head on to the province of Reggio-Emilia. Perhaps the most mysterious product of the region, traditional balsamic vinegar, will be unveiled at a small top-notch family-run farm producing Lambrusco wine and a full range of acetic products.

Learn the difference between the authentic "black gold" product and the balsamic condiments that you usually find in supermarkets. End with a delicious tasting of 3 agings of traditional balsamic vinegar before heading back to Parma.

Very nice tour. Very good explanations on site. What we personally didn't like was that there was no tour guide on the bus. We got on the bus at the meeting point, no greeting, no explanation of the procedure. The bus driver didn't drive according to the road conditions, which was sometimes very unpleasant. But the goals are worth it!

It was nice to be able to book as a single traveler. I took the train from Bologna to meet this tour. Totally worth it. I am so happy that we could see all stages of the making of Parmigiano Reggiano. It gave me a whole new appreciation for this cheese. The prosciutto part of the tour was good but they weren't processing on a Saturday. That was a bummer. Still, I have never seen so many pigs in one place and our tasting was delicious. It was weird to have the driver take us to all these places and not interact with us. Once we understood how the tour would work it was ok but that first stop was awkward to start.

Online booking at short notice and without any problems. Then they immediately received information by email about the meeting point and important information. Departure in a minibus was on time. We were 6 people. The first thing to do was to make the Parmesan. Since we were there at 9 a.m., we saw the entire production. Really really good. Then a 20 minute drive to the Parma maker. This was also very good. Likewise afterwards the balsamic vinegar presentation. A very interesting day. We can highly recommend this tour and would book it again at any time.
