Full description
Along with the locals, who live the city every day; you will go to the city's most popular and historic places and you will try the real "pisano" taste and flavors: starting from the typical rural Tuscan salamis and cheeses, to the traditional focaccia "cecina" (from Italian “ceci”: chickpeas), to conclude with an ice cream in one of the best ice-cream stores in the city. Within this food tour, you will have the opportunity to try the following specialties (according to the availability of raw ingredients, season and the chef’s choices): Cold meats from Tuscany : the famous tuscan cured meats along with a glass of fine red wine in the framework of one of the oldest wine bars of the city; Tuscan Soup: one of the most famous dishes of the pisan farmers' tradition: homemade bread, savoy cabbage, pork, onions, potatoes and beans. Try it in one of the oldest city restaurants! Ribollita: another dish from the farmers’ tradition, wisely prepared in the same way for generations, in one of the most typical and lively trattoria in Pisa. Pisan breed stew: rich and traditional Pisan dish, to taste in one of the best local taverns! You will not be able to taste it anywhere else! Uccelletto style beans with sausage: intense and traditional tuscan dish prepared with cannellini beans, tomato sauce, sage and black pepper and served with the delicious tuscan sausage. Cecìna: very flat focaccia, obtained by mixing chickpea flour with water, salt and olive oil. Soft inside and crisp on the outside; a real must for every visit to Pisa! Gelato “Gourmet”: an ice cream made up of rare and uncommon tastes as a the result of careful research with local, fresh products.

We had a great time with our guide Sacha! She was very personable and gave us insight to local foods, culture, and history. Also, the places we had the opportunity to eat at were amazing! I really enjoyed sampling the local foods. Especially those I had never had before, like the cecina. A Tuscan flatbread made from chickpea flour that was delicious. Not to mention the starter meat tray, Tuscan soup, tortelli, and gelato we also had the pleasure of enjoying. In addition we had some light sightseeing of the leaning tower, the square of miracles, the Arno River, and the knight’s square (amongst other things). I say light because we didn’t spend a great deal of time there, but it was nice to stop through on our way from one local eatery to the next. I highly recommend this tour and Sacha as a guide. So glad we picked this one!

Nice walking tour where our guide was knowledgeable in both Pisa's history and various buildings as well as food traditions in this part of the country, we were guided around the old part of the city, got the best photo angle of the leaning tower and nice food breaks at regular intervals, the time went way too fast.

It was a really great experience. The tour with Sacha our guide was really fun and was definitely one of the highlights of our vacation. In addition to very good food, great insider tips and expertise from our guide, we also had a lot of contact with the locals and also honored the main sights with the obligatory photo. I can only warmly recommend this tour.
