Full description
Above you, a monkey is playing high up in the treetops. In the distance, you hear bird calls and the buzz of friendly insects keeping this lush jungle alive. At the natural reserve and monkey sanctuary of Punta Laguna, you will co-exist with this amazement of nature, and enjoy a peaceful and active day enjoying this stunning reserve. Your specialized guide will take you to the archaeological site of Coba, one of the most important of the region. This Pre-Columbian Maya civilization is surrounded by two beautiful lagoons, and a series of elevated stone and plaster roads which radiate from the central site to various smaller sites near and far. Here you can explore several large temple pyramids, some reaching as high as 138ft (42m) in height! We also have the chance to cool off in some of the most beautiful cenotes (sink-holes) this area has to offer. Afterwards, we can enjoy typical Mayan cuisine by the lake, before witnessing a grand Mayan ceremony! And if you're up for it, you can even take a zip-line through the high treetops of this incredible area. The choices are yours, and we make sure that there are plenty of opportunities for hiking, observing the wildlife, taking a canoe out, or just relaxing in this stunning jungle reserve!

We had a great experience biking around the Coba ruins, visiting Manuel's home and animal rescue area, swimming in a cenote, zip lining, canoeing, and seeing Monkeys. Our guide, Santi, was excellent. A kind and open soul with a passion for the earth and people.

Guide Alberto picked us all from our hotels as mentioned on the tickets. We had an hour’s drive to Coba, whilst learning Mayan history in a very comfortable car. We had a fun easy bike tour of all the significant ruins. It was still early and not crowded! We learnt fun facts about some endemic birds and plants. Then had snacks during a short drive to a hidden treasure Cenote in the forest, which had a beautiful emerald colour. We then had an opportunity to visit a local family farm where they are working on preserving endangered bird species, producing honey and growing most of the vegetables they eat. We had a delicious typical Mexican lunch, including freshly made tortillas. In the afternoon, following a Mayan blessing, we did short forest walk, spotted lots of spider monkeys, including baby ones, zip-lined across a lagoon (okay even if you are scared of heights) and then crossed the lagoon in a canoe with the guide. All in all a fantastic day with a lovely group & guide Alberto.

The guide picked us up very early in the morning to be the first at Coba. It was a very small group so you get all the information face to face in a very good, illustrated way. The whole trip was incredible well organized and no doubt the best we did during our stay in Mexico. Just Awesome! A lifetime experience.
