New York: Central Park 2-Hour Guided Walking Tour
- Duration: 2 hours
Take a leisurely stroll through Central Park to discover why it is so popular with New York City residents as an oasis of tranquility in the busy metropolis. Constructed in the 19th century, the green space is now considered one of the historic masterpieces of the United States and a splendid example of America city architecture. It fits in so well with the urban environment of Manhattan that it’s hard to believe it is completely man-made. Your guide will point out some of the highlights of the park, including some of the most iconic bridges, fountains, monuments, sculptures, and ponds. Learn about the park’s historic links to American pop culture, and discover some of the famous shooting locations from a number of popular movies.
On a very hot and sunny afternoon, I had the pleasure to be the only guest to show up for a walking tour as most visitors chose to use bikes. The tour guide, an expert on birds, history, geology and cinematography, showed me many sights in the lower part of Central Park. His helpfulness to other visitors to Central Park - mainly about directions - and shorts chats with fellow guides - often in their mother tongue - impressed me greatly and added to the excitement of the day. I can without any reservations recommend the walking tour.
