  • View Fogo Lake
  • Enjoy a traditional lunch
Full description
The day begins with a pick up from your hotel or accommodation to visit a traditional pineapple plantation. See biological culture developed in greenhouses where it is possible to taste the pineapple's liquor. The journey continues on the west coast of the island, where you will enjoy the view over the newest and narrowest part of São Miguel and both coasts from the Pico de Carvão‘s viewpoint. Surrounded by the greenest vegetation, you will find in Vista do Rei's viewpoint the Sete Cidades volcanic complex. From here, you will see the famous blue and green twin lakes, as well as Santiago's lake, as viewed from the crater. A stop will be made in the picturesque Sete Cidades town where lunch will be served in a regional restaurant. In the afternoon, the tour goes along the coast enjoying the western landscape to arrive at Capelas, an ancient whaling village. Another stop at Pedras Negras‘s viewpoint to see the northern coast of the island. Continuing on the north coast, you will stop to visit the Ribeira Grande city and its historic center. As well, you will go to the Regional Liquor’s Factory and taste a variety of liquors. After that, visit Caldeira Velha, a natural reserve, to take an optional bath and enjoy the warm water from a waterfall. The last stop will be to take a look over the fantastic Lagoa do Fogo. Returning to Ponta Delgada going down by Pico da Barrosa, you will once more have the stunning view over the newest and narrowest part of the island.

Mario is an exceptional guide. He made sure at all times to do his best to ensure we made the best out of the sightseeing and walked the extra mile to make sure we had the best experience. His local knowledge, as well as his friendliness and professionalism made this tour an even better experience than we had expected. Whoever gets Mario next is definitely in for a good treat.

I liked it. Azores is very beautiful we had great weather and our guide was friendly and professional. Now, at the Lagoa do Canario stop there is an access to Boca do Inferno (I thought it was included). It really isn't difficult to access and it doesn't take long (I went today, regretting that the weather wasn't good at all); then it should be noted that the excursion does not include that visit and 2) it would be great if anyone who wants to be given the option of adding one more hour (that's how long it takes) to be able to enjoy a point that is probably much better than the Laguna del Canario, which is very pretty, yes, but nothing to do with Boca do Inferno. Do you have activities or do you transfer to the park to do the hiking? I hope the weather improves tomorrow or the day after. A 10 for the guide

The visit is exceptional, the landscapes are magnificent. Lunch is delicious and plentiful. The guide is very accommodating we asked for a pick up at the airport and the return to our hotel, which he accepted without any problem. The explanations of the guide are of quality and very interesting. He is passionate about what he says and that's great. I don't speak English well, he was careful that I understood well and even explained some things to me in French. Thank you for this extraordinary day. We recommend this visit. See you soon Justine and Mathieu
