What people are saying about Port Arthur
Absolutely brilliant day. Our driver Luke was knowledgeable and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for him and he was always smiling. The guides on the boat were also very knowledgeable telling about the history of the place plus plenty of stops to take photos and just take in the beauty of the area. Saw albatross, dolphins, seals and rock climbers. Lunch and morning tea at the Lavender Farm were also included and the scones with lavender butter and jam were delicious. The Unzoo was small but the two hours there went very quick and well worth the visit especially the Tassie Devil feeding experience. The whole day was full, fun and info packed. Loved every minute.
One of the best guided cruises we have done - anywhere in the world. Both the captain and our guide were humorous, professional and very knowledgeable on everything we could ever have wanted to know about the sights we saw. A pity we were not provided with headsets to better hear the fascinating stories which was a little challenging with engine and sea noise. Despite this one improvement suggestion, we were given a close up view of Albatrosses (+/- 100!!), dolphins, seals etc. We explored the spectacular coast line including close-ups of amazing rock formations, blowholes and caves. A fantastic 3 hours. Well worth every cent we paid. Thank you team.
It was a fantastic morning out cruising the coast line! Seals, dolphins and albatross! Lily was absolutely fantastic explaining all the sites of note and animals we saw. Always making sure that everyone on board was happy and felt safe at all times. The skipper (can't remember his name) but did everything in his power to ensure that we were all safe and got the perfect photo. It was a rough day in the ocean but that added to the thrill of it!
The choice of stops and attractions seemed an excellent balance, with enough time at Port Arthur and no sense of rushing things. We liked the clifftop walk, and managed it well despite our age (82), because it was relatively level. The one piece of information we would have liked to have in advance as oldies was the availability of the free go-cart service to get us around when tired. It helped to have only 4 of us in the mini-bus.
We have done quite a few activities/tours in Tasmania and this is up there as one of the best. Brilliant scenery and wildlife which was wonderful to experience in the open boat and the crew were fabulous - Hamish was really entertaining and both he and Anna were really informative and attentive. Highly recommend this tour.
