3 Special Port Wines and Fado Music Session

8. 3 Special Port Wines and Fado Music Session

Make yourself at home, drink our iconic Port wine and feel the Portuguese soul with Fado. All of that at our historical building in the heart of Vila Nova de Gaia, just across the Douro River from Porto city. The impressive building dates back to 200 years and it has a close relation to the Port Wine world. It was originally used as a cooperage that manufactured barrels and casks for the Port houses in Vila Nova de Gaia. In the 1950s, with the increasing usage of stainless steel vats, the business was turned into a wooden box manufacturer (boxes which were used to contain Port bottles), until the ‘90s, when it was transformed into a Port wine tasting room. Finally, we acquired this lodge in 2020 to be able to share our wines and passion directly with our guests in Vila Nova de Gaia. The best place to learn all about the specifics of the Port Wine with our friendly staff! Welcome to the Quevedo family! Although the Quevedo Family has been producing Port Wine in São João da Pesqueira for more than 5 generations, the actual company was only founded in 1993. This makes us one of the most recent Port Wine Houses from the Douro. With less than 30 years of existence, we feel we are at the beginning of our journey and every day is a fresh page added to what we like to do most: explore all the ways wines can be enjoyed.

The Fado show was excellent! All in all about 9 songs (3 by a male singer, 3 by a female and 3 duet) all accompanied by 2 guitars. We were in Lisbon last year and fado is way more popular there. More difficult to find a good show in Porto. We had booked the event for the music and were happily listening for ~ one hour. The tour prior to the show was great as well and very informative. But you need to make sure to stay close to the guide as the groups are pretty large. Also as this tour is part of the yellow bus 48 hour pass as well.

Lovely cultural experience while in Porto! Sold out show that was very organized, punctual and accommodating. The singers and the band were phenomenal. To top it off, there was an (optional) Port wine tasting to fit the mood!

Great show. Excellent explanation to begin, nice glass of port (or bottle of water, if you prefer), and amazingly talented musicians/singers. Highly recommended!

What an amazing night. And don't worry if you don't speak the language, it's just as beautiful to listen to without knowing the story.

Excellent performance, traditional fado at its best!
